Who We Are

Community Makers Foundation is launching its first Local Artist T-Shirt Design Contest, and we want to see what Fairfax-area artists can do!

This year’s theme is What Art Means to Me: a t-shirt design that captures what art means to you personally, why you make it, what it’s given you. Submit your original design responding to that theme between September 1 and September 21. Our board will review every entry and narrow the field to a shortlist of standout designs. From there, the community votes to pick the top 5, and those 5 designs get produced as real, physical shirts and sold through our merch store for a limited time.

How it Works

Entries open: September 1

Entries close: September 21

Board shortlist review: September 22-28 Public vote (shortlist to top 5): September 29-October 12

Top 5 designs go live in our store: by October 20

Voting/sales window: October 20-November 19

Winner (most shirts sold) announced live at CMF’s Birthday Party Fundraiser: Weekend of November 20th

The Prize

Whichever of the 5 finalist shirts sells the most physical units during the sales window wins. The winning artist receives:

  • A paid guest artist spot at a future Community Maker Workshop session, in a medium of their choice
  • Their shirt added permanently to CMF’s merch store, listed under their name
  • A feature on CMF’s social media and website as a spotlighted local artist
